Data Engineer (Analytics)

Location

The base location of the role can be Citywest, Dublin 24 or Kilkenny, with a blended working arrangement available through our Smart working model which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better work-life balance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the maintenance of systems, processes, code and pipelines for the ETL of data from a range of sources (internal and external) and types (APIs, database connectors, flat files etc.) both into and out of Glanbia’s Azure/Databricks environment.
  • Assisting in the assembly and maintenance of large and complex data sets that meet both functional and technical business requirements.
  • Working with 3rd party API’s to integrate external data with Glanbia’s data.
  • Assisting in the creation and/or maintenance of analytics tools that utilize our environment to provide actionable insight into key business performance indicators and business solutions.
  • Engaging with data and analytics experts and key stakeholders across Glanbia to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

Skills

Requirements

 

Education:

  • Primary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another numerate discipline.

 

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of prior experience working in a data/database related area.
  • Logical thinker with a pro-active attitude, problem solving skills and demonstrable experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Good knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices generally.
  • Demonstrable experience manipulating, processing and extracting value from large datasets.
  • Fluent English speaker.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of SQL generally, with an understanding of object-oriented languages and development methodologies (e.g. Java, Python, Scala etc.)
  • Ability to write high-performance, reliable and maintainable code.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git).
  • Some previous experience with an Azure Environment or Databricks would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with connecting to front-end data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau) and general familiarity with data science tools (e.g. RStudio Server) would be an advantage.
